The Sensualist
A. Cayuela
Painter, Illustrator, Photographer and Digital Artist
Born in Barcelona in 1962, Angel Cayuela is a multidisciplinary artist whose work encompasses painting, illustration, photography, and digital art. Trained in the visual arts from an early age, he developed a deep interest in the depiction of the human body, light, and texture—elements that have remained constant throughout his career.
Over the following decades, he participated in numerous group exhibitions, establishing a visual language centered on the artistic nude and erotic illustration. The specific nature of his subject matter limited his presence in conventional exhibition spaces, leading him to focus primarily on commissioned works and online dissemination through specialized platforms.
Cayuela’s works are currently held in private collections across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, where they are valued for their technical excellence, compositional precision, and refined aesthetic sensibility. Among his main artistic influences are John Singer Sargent, Anders Zorn, Joaquín Sorolla, and Alexius de László, as well as illustrators such as J.C. Leyendecker, Norman Rockwell, and Gil Elvgren—references that resonate in the formal rigor and elegance of his production.
In recent years, Cayuela has embraced digital art as a field of experimentation and creative expansion, exploring new visual possibilities while maintaining the technical mastery that defines his pictorial work. His oeuvre, in constant evolution, stands out for its meticulous attention to detail, refined treatment of the human figure, and a continuous pursuit of beauty, balance, and formal perfection.
