Maryna Timchenko (born 1985, Eberswalde, Germany) is a Ukrainian contemporary artist whose work radiates intensity, sensuality, and emotional power. Raised in a military family, she moved to Ukraine at the age of three — a country that would later become both her creative homeland and the core of her artistic identity. Timchenko received a higher education in fine arts and studied photography, developing a multidisciplinary approach that merges painting, graphic techniques, and photographic vision. Long before dedicating herself fully to art, she worked as a photographer, model, designer, and production designer for television and cinema. Yet painting remained her constant language. From early childhood she created commissioned portraits in both graphic and painterly techniques, earning her first income as a young schoolgirl. Her artistic universe is driven by human emotion — love, vulnerability, erotic tension, and the unspoken dialogue between bodies and souls. Since 2015, eroticism has become a central and conscious direction in her work. However, her art transcends provocation; it explores intimacy as a philosophical state. Through close-up compositions, abstraction, and deliberate understatement, Timchenko captures moments that feel suspended between confession and mystery. Music, human connection, and the surrounding world serve as her inexhaustible sources of inspiration. Her canvases often pulse with movement and raw energy, balancing figurative elements with expressive abstraction. Over the years, Maryna Timchenko has gained recognition in Ukraine and internationally as both artist and photographer. Her works have been presented at major festivals and art fairs. Her paintings have been featured in television programs, cultural events, private collections, and thematic exhibitions across Europe. Since 2009, she has also worked extensively in fine art nude photography, both individual and large-scale projects. Following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Timchenko chose to remain in the country, continuing to create and support the cultural front. She opened her own art gallery and art café in Kyiv, organized musical concerts, volunteered, and performed in several music bands — affirming her belief that art is resistance. In early 2023, legal accusations labeling her paintings as pornography forced the artist to emigrate to Germany. This rupture marked a new chapter in her work. Themes of resilience, freedom, feminine strength, and inner sovereignty have since deepened in her practice. Today, Maryna Timchenko works across a wide range of graphic and painterly techniques. Her art exists at the intersection of sensuality and spirituality — a space where the body becomes symbol, and intimacy becomes a language of freedom.
