Artwork details
Always that same summer happiness in the bright afternoon light. And that dream body that delights my imagination. Aim absolutely at nothing other than what I grasp by sight: the fabulous academy of this girl who, with her velvet skin from Utrecht, is for me a real treasure! The sea of an intense cobalt blue, the red ball that she holds in front of her breasts facing the ant who wants to sting them, her enjoyment of grasping the unknown here now... no, it’s nothing like a silly child’s game with the insect of the present. In this work, I sought to capture the spontaneity and pure joy of summer on the beach. Using oil paint, I meticulously worked the warm tones and shimmering light to reflect happiness and serenity. The central figure, smiling and carefree, surrounded by the vast blue expanse, evokes a moment suspended in time, an instant of grace and freedom.
